Atlas New York

Gotham developed, built, and owns Atlas New York, a stylish refuge from the midtown bustle located two blocks from Bryant Park. The bold and inspired 48-story, 400,000 square foot, mixed-use property features 374 luxury rentals, three floors of commercial space, ground floor retail and a two-story parking garage. The property received the Most Ingenious Deal Award by The Real Estate Board of New York in 2000, for the complexity of an assemblage of five separate land parcels and air rights. During construction, Gotham demolished parcels four and five by hand, brick by brick, due to midtown congestion. And did 60% of the excavation in bedrock, with soldier beams and lodging to support the foundation—fulfilling the requirement of a project within 100-feet of subway tracks.

One-, and two-bedroom apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows with remarkable city, river and Empire State Building views. The building’s two setbacks create an intimate feel, with just eight units per floor on the upper levels. The Atlas Club & Lounge includes a fitness club and studio and 5th floor terrace with fireplace and library. The 42,000 square foot commercial space has its own separate entrance, designed to accommodate full-floor single-tenant occupancy, or smaller commercial offices. Generous column spacing and high ceilings lend spatial functionality, and expansive windows stream light and air at every exposure. Atlas New York is the fashionable address that Project Runway contestants have called home for the past eight seasons.
